More than just cars and bikes…for us, it’s a way of life, so we reimagined our favorite car and motorcycle show in totally unexpected ways. America’s largest monthly car show drives south east from the bustling city of Atlanta to an idyllic beach atmosphere, right in the heart of the Golden Isles coastline of Georgia.  This truly unique three day event is a celebration of all things motorized and cool.  Founders Bruce Piefke and Bryan Fuller have set the goal of creating an unmatched experience for gearheads and their families that is soon to become that annual can’t miss car and bike event for the entire family.

To date, Caffeine and Octane has been an Atlanta only car show that each month regularly attracts over 2,000 amazing muscle, classic, high performance, luxury and exotic cars. 15,000 car enthusiasts and fans regularly attend on the first Sunday morning of each month.  Join us March 17-19, 2017, as Caffeine and Octane heads to the beautiful and historic setting of Jekyll Island, Georgia for a truly unique automotive experience.  Auto and bike enthusiasts of all ages and interests come together to celebrate the speed, style and artistry of the world’s finest cars and bikes.

Kick-back and relax in the sand and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of this very special and historic place. Jekyll Island was once a private hunting club for some of the nation’s wealthiest individuals – names like Rockefeller, Morgan, Vanderbilt and Pulitzer.  March 2017, we too hope to make a place in history by bringing the 1st annual Caffeine and Octane At The Beach to this one-of-a-kind island.  Complete with educational workshops, car displays at every turn, kids custom building activities and a custom motorcycle show, there is no better place in the Southeast to experience the variety and caliber of this cars and coffee event.

The March Edition of Classic Motorsports Magazine features the Allard Motor Works’ J2X MkII. Penned by senior automotive writer, John Webber, and through the words of the current owner of J2X #9028, the feature covers both a current review of the J2X MkII and a historical overview of the Allard marque.

Classic Motorsports

The author not only captures the essence of Bill King and his wife Sheryl’s attachment to their Allard, but he undertakes a series of road tests to validate the accolades this neo-retro roadster has received from other media sources, celebrities and from current owners.

If you believe that destiny is often related to the ‘alignment of planets, then you will also enjoy a series of anecdotes by Roger Allard as he describes the circumstances that led him to revive the 1951-54 Allard J2X in a modern format. His remarks provide a thumbnail sketch of his 18-year initiative to keep the Allard marque on the radar- a victim of fading memories, low production volumes and the lack of exposure in a highly competitive market.

Complimenting the main feature, John Webber provides the current specifications of the soon-to-be launched J2X MkIII, as well as an interesting sidebar that provides a capsule overview of Sidney Allard’s career, his accomplishments and his legacy. Interesting and humorous quotes are sourced from a number of motorsports publications from the 1950s.

You can find a copy on the shelves of your local magazine store, or you can get a digital copy directly from Classic Motorsports.

Allard Motor Works (AMW) is pleased to announce that right-hand-drive (RHD) is now available on its new Allard J2X Mk III. Following numerous requests from potential J2X MkIII owners from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, as well as a number of other countries, AMW has reconfigured its J2X MkIII cockpit to provide a RHD option.

“Given the width of the cockpit and the fact that our doors are reinforced with side impact bars, the task was not as easy as imagined,” commented AMW President, Roger Allard. “You are not only dealing with the steering wheel, but there are also foot pedals to reposition, instruments to move around, a spare tire to flip to the opposite side and accessories to reposition.” This said, AMW is now ready to take orders for overseas shipment.

AMW is often asked why the steering on the J2X is generally on the left, given that it is a British vehicle. The answer is that the J2X was primarily an export vehicle and most often shipped to N. America and Europe (without engine and paint!). Of the 83 originally built, only 7 had a RHD. These were also exports, but they found homes in a number of the former British colonies.

Bright sun, cool temperatures and rare vintage cars. That was the Boston Cup – eye candy for thousands of car buffs gathered at the Boston Common on September 25th.  The Allard J2X MkII was prominent in this large display of motor memorabilia. On display in the British section, the Pozzi Blue MkII with a Poppy Red leather interior was one of the most photographed cars of the day. At the end of the show, the participating cars paraded single-file out of the display area to the wild applause of bystanders.

The iconic Indianapolis Brickyard was the Allard J2X MkIIs beachhead in the US Mid-West state. In torrid heat, the three-day event was a showcase for legendary and iconic vintage cars and veteran drivers. Allard Motor Works joined SVRA at a track that two weeks beforehand had hosted some 300,000 spectators for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. Fortunately, but at a much reduced speed, the Allard J2X MkII logged 10 laps of the historic oval and road course. The ride was memorable because the day the Allard J2X MkII was on the track, it was Father’s Day and Roger Allard’s son, Chris joined his father for the ride. When was the last time three Allards were on the track at the same time?
